Concept Art: Finished version

So I finally finished the piece of concept art of my Abandoned Train Station, when I started brain storming I had hoped to make a sort of place where a player may have to be heading towards the city or buildings, so you can see where your going at all times but your not necessarily anywhere near there yet, the same idea is used in Half Life 2 where you can see the Citadel at all times.

Concept art: almost finished!

So I've finally nearly finished this piece, the most annoying parts have been taking the most time recently, such as the railway tracks. I am pleased how they look though, I wanted them to be covered in moss originally and I think I delivered what I wanted to show well.

So it's coming along nicely, I have completed the platforms on both sides of the train station, and I have began adding the detail into them such as moss on the walls, and foliage growing from the corners of where concrete meets.

This is what I have so far for my piece of concept art. I think it is coming along really nicely I like the desaturated look that is coming together exactly like I had pictured it in my head.

I've begun working on this piece of concept art, it is an abandoned overgrowth filled mossy train station. I found some concept art from a real abandoned train station in Folkestone.

I will use this station as a structure, base, or skeleton for my concept art. The details such as moss and signs of radiation etc will be added in from my own imagination and from some research I have been doing on an abandoned city called Pripyat in Ukraine

Steampunking

My first real project for university is designing a steampunk vehicle. After first creating an airship/hot air balloon and seeing somebody had already done some concept art for that. I decided to get some extra practice in and start again. This time round I did a lot more concept art looked at a lot more sources looked at what other people had been doing before hand and came up with, the Rocket Plane. 'A small quick and agile fighting plane'.

Today I finished the bulk of the modelling using 6984 triangles. We had an 8000 triangle limit.

Thorpe Cloud, Derbyshire

Me and Penny decided to go and look around in Derbyshire seeing as it was a really nice day. I had seen this place called Thorpe Cloud on wikipedia, its 942ft up. It was about 19 miles away in the Peak District so we decided to go for a drive out there. There were wild sheep and cows just roaming the roads, and... a really really big steep hill with no path up to it. So it looked like we had to climb it. When we got to the top we had timed it perfectly the sun was just setting over the other side of the valley, we managed to get some great pictures and eat loads of cake on top of this almost mountain.

First Derby Braves game!

First game as a Derby Brave, we turned up to play Bradford Bears who without a doubt, live in pretty much a slum, Bradford is falling apart! The changing rooms were reconstructed from an abandoned building! Saying that, the pitch was really nice and marked out amazingly so that was good.

My first ever drive as a Brave we scored, a corner route to our tight end Roger Wood.

It was a really good day out, everyone got along and the weather was perfect not to cold not to warm it was really sunny and it all contributed for throwing over 230 yards, that's not including the rushing yards afterwards.

Final Score: Derby Braves 52 - 6 Bradford Bears

I've been looking for this video for years, when my ex-teacher posted it on facebook the other day. It came on TV when I was a kid but couldn't find the episode that it was in. Its Homer Simpson, through time. Really nice little video for you Simpsons fans out there.

Motion Capture

So, we took a trip to Eurocom yesterday. Known for the more recent James Bond games and the Beijing Olympics game.

The point of the trip was to visit their Motion Capture studio, It was awesome...When we walked in there was an actor in his MoCap suit, walking in a circle. Behind him a character in a video game was walking behind him copying him move for move. It was the best display of technology ive been privalidged to see. Im not aloud to upload any of the pictures I took but below is a link that they put on youtube themselves of some of the work they do.

The long and short of it is, I am really interested in becoming a Motion Capture Artist now.
